Sandra, founder of SAT Industrial Supplies & Solutions (SAT Solutions), exemplifies resilience, leadership, and determination. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she was raised by her grandparents after her parents’ divorce. Their love and cultural traditions shaped her journey. At age 10, Sandra’s family briefly relocated to Miami, laying the foundation for a future that led her to Tampa, Florida, where she transitioned from employee to CEO in a male-dominated industry.
Before launching SAT Solutions, Sandra gained invaluable experience working as a hub supervisor at UPS in Puerto Rico and later as an Accounts Manager at Grainger. Balancing work and studies, Sandra earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, a testament to her perseverance. While working with government clients at Grainger, Sandra was inspired to start her own business. With the support of her husband, Kevin, they navigated the certification process for minority and women-owned businesses, leading to the creation of SAT Solutions in Tampa. Her company quickly earned a reputation for integrity and fairness, offering solutions at reasonable prices.
Breaking Barriers in a Male-Dominated Industry
Sandra faced numerous challenges in her career. Early on, she worked the night shift at UPS PR, operating forklifts and wearing stained polos and boots—experiences that instilled resilience and grit. In a male-dominated industry, Sandra was often told that her looks, not her skills, helped her succeed. She quickly corrected this misconception, emphasizing that her success was built on hard work and dedication.
Over the years, Sandra has seen positive changes in the industry. More opportunities for women have emerged, and Sandra has formed powerful alliances with women like Danielle Hernandez, Diana Walker, and Mercedes Young. Together, they foster an environment of mutual support.
A New Milestone and a Bright Future
Sandra’s story is now featured in the book Leaving Stronger Than You Started, which highlights professionals who’ve broken barriers. Today, SAT Solutions continues to grow, expanding into large-scale infrastructure projects and serving government agencies.
Beyond business, Sandra is passionate about giving back. She serves on the board of the Tampa Bay Latin Chamber of Commerce, mentors aspiring female entrepreneurs, and volunteers at a local dog shelter. Sandra’s journey is a testament to perseverance, proving that anything is possible with hard work and determination.
